Continuum mechanics dialogues

Udine, 4-5 December 2023

The meeting brings together researchers working in the broad area of structural and continuum mechanics that tackle problems at different scales and with approaches that range from mathematics to engineering. On the occasion, the 80th birthday of Cesare Davini will also be celebrated.

The contributions to the meeting will address several topics. Mathematical contributions to continuum mechanics will mainly concern homogenisation via Gamma convergence methods. Fundamental questions such as thermo-mechanics, bodies with dislocations and incompatible strain or displacement fields will also be discussed. Several speakers will present biomechanical applications. Among them, the modelling of soft tissues, cellular motility and growth. Finally on the structural mechanics side, some recent contributions of structural mechanics applied to resilience at the territorial scale will be presented.

The meeting will have no participation fees. A registration will be required.
